Girls’ Ballet (Including Pre-Ballet)
-Black leotard with no skirt attached, ballet pink or skin-tone dance tights, leather or canvas *ballet pink or skin-toned ballet technique shoes
*Ballet pink is a specific shade of pink that is available in popular dancewear brands such as Capezio or Bloch.
-Level 4 through Advanced with ribbons on shoes
Optional: Black or pink ballet sweater or sweater tights. Instructors may ask students to remove sweater or sweater tights during class. Typically these extra items are only worn briefly as students begin class and are removed after one or two combinations.
-NO skirts, unless approved by faculty for certain more advanced levels.
-Undergarments should not be visible. (e.g. No underwear should extend beyond leotard)
-Hair must be neatly secured in classical bun or other approved style for all ballet classes and rehearsals. (Dancers with hair that cannot be secured in classical bun, please ask for guidance regarding hairstyles for class and performance.)

Performance Leotard for All Female Dancers
All female dancers will need a flesh-colored camisole leotard for performances. These are not needed for classes, only performances to maintain modesty while changing into costumes.
Please purchase color that most closely matches the color of your dancer’s skin tone.
Boy’s Ballet
White t-shirt, black dance tights or shorts, black ballet shoes
Dancers in Intermediate to Advanced Ballet, Conditioning, Intermediate and Advanced Jazz, Modern, and Junior and Advanced Lyrical/Contemporary classes must also bring a set of Resistance Bands and Resistance Loop Bands, a foam roller, medicine ball, and small firm ball (e.g. tennis ball). The products linked with the pictures are available on Amazon. Similar sets may also be available on Amazon or at local big box stores. Please make sure dancers have resistance band sets with varying resistance levels (represented by various colors.) These should be kept in dance bag.
Pre-Tap
GIrls: Black leotard, pink or skin-tone footed tights, black Mary Jane-style tap shoes (preferably with elastic loop closure as shown in picture or with Velcro closure to promote independence and self-confidence), optional black shorts
Boys: White t-shirt, black shorts or leggings, black tap shoes (see option 3 below)

May wear socks, be barefoot, or wear “Pirouettes” as pictured.
Hip-hop 1 & 2
Girls: Leotard or shirt that allow inversions, comfortable loose-fitting shorts or pants; and white, clean white sneakers dedicated to dance class (not worn outside)
Boys: t-shirt or sweatshirt; comfortable loose-fitting shorts or pants; and white, clean white sneakers dedicated to dance class (not worn outside)
Pointe 1 and 2
Must have pointe shoes approved by studio faculty before sewing ribbons and elastics. We recommend fitting pointe shoes at Footlights in Frederick, MD or Barre and Pointe in Leesburg, VA. Please contact them in advance regarding appointments.
Creative Movement
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and socks with grippers.
Russian Character
Girls: Black leotard, ballet pink or skin-tone tights, black character skirt (length just below knee)
Hair in a classical bun or similar approved style
Black, low heel character shoes
Boys: Ballet class requirement
