The Virginia Youth Ballet (VYB) is a non-profit 501(c)3 dance company, associated with the Vostrikov's Academy of Ballet, that provides the community with educational and cultural programs in the art of dance. Founded by Gennadi and Susan Vostrikov in 1989, the VYB contributes to the cultural life of the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding areas and provides dancers with the opportunity to view the possibilities of a professional career in dance, and to experience the inherent, lifelong rewards of the art of ballet and dance.
Donations
As a non-profit organization, the Virginia Youth Ballet operates on the generosity of our community and patrons. Currently we have two annual events that serve as are our primary fundraisers: the VYB Annual Auction and the VYB Nutcracker Tea. Your tax deductible contributions are graciously accepted for either or both exiting events. (To donate, please fill out this form for the Annual Auction or this form for the Nutcracker Tea. You can either mail or drop off your donation at the studio. We appreciate your support.)
Auditions
The VYB provides professional level experience to young ballet dancers.
The company has an extensive repertiore and performs several times a year.
Auditions are required, and are open to all ballet dancers with a
minimum of three years of ballet. Children must be nine years old
or older to audition for VYB. Auditions are offered twice a year.

Rehearsals for VYB
As with all performances, rehearsals are required. Attendance at these are mandatory; if a dancer misses more than two rehearsals, he or she may be removed from the cast. In ballet, there are numerous parts for both individual and group dancers. Rehearsals are typically scheduled on Friday evenings and Saturdays, as well as other weeknight evenings if needed, and before or after any VAB scheduled classes. We provide weekly schedules broken down by dancer's role(s), which are available for pick up on Saturdays or Mondays. We will also have these schedules posted on bulletin boards in the studio foyer.
These specific schedules vary greatly, and are often changed at the last minute by the artistic director. Therefore, VYB does not post these schedules on the web site. We ask all VYB dancers and parents to check inside the studio for any changes made that day. You may also call the studio at (540) 665-0343 to find out if there are any changes to the daily rehearsal schedule.Our Repertoire
