Melissa Kauffman Largent
Teacher: Ballet and Pointe; and Choreographer
Melissa Largent is currently an instructor and choreographer with Vostrikov's Academy of Ballet and the Virginia Youth Ballet. She also teaches dance with Summer Regional Governor’s School in Winchester, Virginia, and Vocal Arts, a residential choral workshop at James Madison University.
Melissa’s classical ballet training began with Gennadi and Susan Vostrikov and continued with Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, the Pennsylvania Ballet in Philadelphia, where she was a Pennsylvania Ballet Scholarship recipient, and the Richmond Ballet, where she was a recipient of a Richmond Ballet Scholarship. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Education from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York; Montessori certification through the American Montessori Society; and level one of Orff-Schulwerk music pedagogy certification, through James Madison University.
Additionally, Melissa is an intervention resource teacher with Winchester Public Schools; she previously worked with Apple Valley Montessori School, as well. She has also served at the Winchester Montessori School in Winchester, Virginia, as primary directress, and music and movement instructor and at Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly, Virginia, as a ballet instructor. While continuing to teach and choreograph at Vostrikov’s Academy of Ballet, Melissa is also currently a graduate student in communication sciences and disorders at James Madison University.
