Christine "Chris" McNamara
Instructor/Choreographer of Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe and Lyrical
Chris is a 1990 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Shenandoah University, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Dance. While at Shenandoah, she received extensive training in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, and Choreography. She has had the opportunity to study with the Atlanta Ballet and Atlanta Jazz Theatre, as well as other well known artists such as: Ron Colton-Augusta Ballet, GA; Jonathon Hollander-Battery Dance Company, NY; John Goding-Washington Ballet, DC; Frank Hatchett-Broadway Dance Center, NY; Gennadi and Susan Vostrikov, Winchester, VA; Gus Giordano – Chicago, IL.
Chris has been teaching, performing and choreographing throughout Maine, New York, Georgia, West Virginia and Virginia, most recently as instructor/choreographer at Tari Jo’s Dance Studio; Tap instructor at Shenandoah University; Drill/Dance Team instructor/choreographer and show choir choreographer at John Handley High School; and Drill Team instructor at Daniel Morgan Middle School.
Her choreography of theater productions includes: Anything Goes, Music Man, Bye Bye Birdie, Jerry’s Girls, Leader of the Pack, Carnival, Lil’ Abner, and Oklahoma.
Her choreography has received numerous awards and has been showcased at Universal Dance Association, Eastern Dance Association, All-American Music Festivals, Dance Olympus, Dance Makers, Inc, Fiesta-val, Apple Blossom Festival and Co Dance.
Conferences include JUMP, West Coast Dance Explosion, Dance Olympus, Dance Makers, Inc, Eastern Dance Association and Universal Dance Association.
